TITLE:                                                               Bus Driver

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                                        

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent level of education.
  • Obtain Oklahoma Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
  • Obtain Oklahoma State Department of Education school bus driver certification
  • Pass a DOT physical examination at a facility designated by the Transportation Department, including drug / alcohol test.
  • Lift and carry 75 (seventy five) pounds across 40 (forty) feet of level ground.

 

REPORTS TO:                                                  Director of Transportation, Student Discipline Supervisor, Designated Driver Examiner / Training Supervisor, Special Needs Route Supervisor, Route Supervisor / Accident Investigator, Activity Trips Supervisor

 

JOB GOAL:                                                       Enable each student through safe and efficient transportation to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district’s schools.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Obey all traffic laws and District policy.
  • Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses and complete proper paperwork.
  • Report all accidents and complete required reports.
  • Observe and obey all policies and procedures as set forth in the Putnam City Schools Transportation Department Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Report students with bus discipline problems to the proper authority and complete proper paperwork.
  • Keep assigned bus clean.
  • Keep and maintain assigned schedule.
  • Pickup and discharge students only at authorized stops.
  • Properly document all mechanical and safety problems pertaining to school bus as found.
  • Possess a working knowledge of any additional equipment necessary to properly perform all duties.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                              Nine-month basis. Salary established by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:                                                    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.
