POSITION TITLE: Executive Director of Secondary Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid teacher and appropriate administrator certification
- Administrative experience totaling at least five years
- Graduate work in the areas of curriculum development, supervision, and instructional practices
- Supervisory experience
- Such alternatives or additional qualifications that the board may find appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Academic Services
SUPERVISES: Middle and high school principals and assistant principals.
JOB GOAL: To assume responsibility as a member of the Superintendent’s administrative team to provide leadership in school improvement throughout the district.
Major responsibilities include the overall supervision of middle and high school instructional programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate the development and implementation of district long-range goals.
- Assist in planning and reviewing district budgets to ensure expenditures reflect district goals and priorities.
- Coordinate district-wide efforts to provide excellence and equity of educational opportunities for all students.
- Facilitate the growth of secondary administrators as instructional leaders.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Elementary Education to develop a highly effective K-12 administrative team.
- Observe, supervise, and evaluate the performance of secondary principals and communicate with them regarding their professional performance and growth.
- Lead strategic change that continuously elevates the performance of schools and sustains high-quality educational programs and opportunities across the district.
- Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and assignment of secondary administrative personnel.
- Engage in your own development and continuous improvement to help principals grow as instructional leaders.
- Provide leadership in using effective research based practices to increase student achievement.
- Facilitate district committees or groups to review best practices, programs, or services in secondary schools.
- Disseminate site and district data to assist building administrators in school improvement efforts.
- Participate in work of local, state, and national education associations and leadership groups.
- Represent Putnam City Schools in various school related community programs and activities..
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of secondary summer school programs.
- Serve as a district hearing officer for disciplinary appeals.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve–month year
Salary to be established by the board
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
