Requirements:

  • Holds a current Oklahoma teacher credential with an ESL endorsement (a Master’s degree in ESL or Bilingual Education is preferred).
  • Has 3 or more years of experience with teaching ELs or teaching multilingual students from diverse cultural, academic backgrounds.
  • Skilled in working cooperatively with others; e.g., bilingual assistants, teachers and administrators.  A current PC ELD teacher is preferred since this program requires firsthand experience of how the EL program currently functions in the district.

  • Knowledge of Responsive Classroom, PAX, Love and Logic, Zones of Regulation, or Trauma-Informed practices is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and able to adhere to grant requirements.
  • Must pass an AmeriCorps mandated Criminal History Background/Sex Offender check.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with recruiting, enrollment, and maintaining member files.
  • Weekly site visits to monitor members and ensure the grant objectives are being implemented with integrity.
  • Provide on-going EL training for the members based on site visits and needs of the members.
  • Coordinate the placement of members at the elementary schools and help ensure members have a daily schedule to follow.
  • Coordinate communication between members, teachers, the EL Facilitator, the Program Director, Principals, and interpreters, as needed.
  • Approve and provide oversight of cultural awareness activities members will implement.
  • Assist with tracking and analyzing data.
