TITLE:

Licensed Mental Health Professional or Crisis Counselor

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         A valid certificate as a school counselor

·         Master’s degree.

·         A valid certificate as a school counselor OR

·         LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Candidate

·         Such alternative to the above qualifications

      as the Board may find appropriate and

      acceptable.

 

 

REPORTS TO:

Principal

 

 

JOB GOALS

To support and assist students in social, academic, and mental well-being in order to aid in school success and postsecondary goals.

 

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Connects students to school resources, procedures and varied opportunities for learning and success.

·         Works to prevent students from dropping out of school, including presenting options to at-risk students.

·         Works to address needs of 504 & special education students.

·         Connects students to participate in school and community events.

·         Helps students evaluate career interests and choices.

·         Counsels students on an individual basis in topics related to home, relationships, health, personal well-being, and school related issues.

·         May provide follow-up meetings with students related to drug/alcohol suspensions.

·         Documented communication with parents.

·         Supports district programming.

·         Provides in-service training in guidance for teachers and student teachers. (includes suicide prevention and bullying)

·         Coordinates & facilitates support groups with students.

·         Provides crisis assessment and care.

·         Coordination with school counseling team to support site and district goals.

·         Assists with student mediation in solving problems and handling situations.

·         Performs supervisory duties as assigned by building administration.

·         Performs other duties as may be assigned by building administration.

 

 

                                                                                                                                               

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Ten-month basis.  Salary to be established by the Board of Education.

 

 

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.
