TITLE:                                                             Secretary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                                        1.         A reasonable degree of proficiency in typing and keyboarding.

  1. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines.
  2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:                                                 Principal

 

SUPERVISES:                                                 All assistant secretaries in the school building.

 

JOB GOAL:                                                     To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.           

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:         

 

  1. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and efficient office.
  2. Prepares correspondence, reports, notices, and recommendations as required.
  3. Maintains such student records as shall be required.
  4. Places, receives and routes all incoming calls.
  5. Maintains a daily teacher attendance log and the attendant records for substitute teachers.
  6. Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it into usable form.
  7. Maintains a regular filing system, as well as a set of locked confidential files, and processes incoming correspondence as instructed.
  8. Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
  9. Performs any bookkeeping tasks associated with the specific position.
  10. Maintains a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews.
  11. Welcomes visitors and arranges for their comfort.
  12. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:              Ten, eleven or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule.          

 

 

EVALUATION:                                   Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified personnel.
