AmeriCorps Summer Enrichment Teacher

 

Description:

The AmeriCorps Summer Enrichment Leader will serve in a high-energy summer program for students entering into grades

1st - 5th .  The summer program is offered free to students and is intended to provide additional reading remediation as well as to help reduce summer learning loss.  On Fridays when the students are not at the program, members will develope interactive Google Slides that enhance summer learning opportunities in an online format. Accepted applicants will be enrolled as an AmeriCorps member and will be required to serve a minimum of 300 hours throughout the duration of the program in one of the following elementary schools: Hilldale, Western Oaks or Tulakes.

Terms of Participation:

June 1, 2021 - July 26, 2021

Commit to serving 300 or more service hours by participating from 8:00 am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday

and 8:00 am - noon on Fridays.

 

Training:

Over 30 hours of training will be required before the program starts.  Training will include topics such as Americoprs 101, classroom management, lesson planning, how to create interactive Google Slides and professionalism in the workplace.

 

Salary Range:

The AmeriCorps member will receive a $1,600 living allowance in June and July (not to exceed $3,200) and a $1,230 educational award upon completion of the program and serving 300 or more hours.
